March 19th, 2014 - Uncertainty and Fear Needs Faith

We need to have faith in a sovereign Lord no matter what is seen or not seen. We also need to be patient with Jesus and his time of deliverance.

Matthew 8:5-13
5 When Jesus was entered into Capernaum, there came unto him a Centurion, beseeching him, 6 And said, Master, my servant lieth sick at home of the palsy, and is grievously pained. 7 And Jesus said unto him, I will come and heal him. 8 But the Centurion answered, saying, Master, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed. 9 For I am a man also under authority of another, and have soldiers under me: and I say to one, Go, and he goeth: and to another, Come, and he cometh: and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it. 10 When Jesus heard that, he marveled, and said to them that followed him, Verily, I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, even in Israel. 11 But I say onto you, that many shall come from the East and West, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven. 12 And the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into utter darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. 13 Then Jesus aid unto the Centurion, Go thy way, and as thou hast believed, so be it unto thee.

Matthew 8:23-27
23 And when he was entered into the ship, his disciples followed him. 24 And behold, there arose a great tempest in the sea, so that the ship was covered with waves: but he was asleep. 25 Then his disciples came, and awoke him, saying, Master, save us: we perish. 26 And he say unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea: and so there was a great calm. 27 And the men marveled, saying, What man is this, that both the winds and the sea obey him?

“You must remember something, says one elderly Christian, who languished more than ten years in a labor camp. “Christian faith I most precious when we experience it under testing. The primary purpose of prayer is not for gaining wealth or comfort and earthly security. Faith and prayer are to make us true followers of our Lord who suffered as the greatest example of purpose in life. I have known many dark days, but I have also experienced how bright God’s light can be in times of uncertainty and fear. I am sure The Lord is much more precious to me because of my experiences. Who could ask for more?”

To suffer I to serve our Lord.
Our tears, like His, touch heaven.
We are the children of His Word,
To whom all grace is given.

Romans 8:17
If we be children, we are also heirs, even the heirs of God, and heirs annexed with Christ: if so be that we suffer with him, that we may also be glorified with him.

February 1st, 2013 - The Lord’s Righteousness, Our Faith and Fear

Psalms 1

1Blessed is the man that doth not walk in the counsel of the wicked, nor stand in the way of sinners, nor sit in the seat of the scornful.

2But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in his law doth he meditate day and night.

3For he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of waters, that will bring forth her fruits in due season: whose leaf shall not fade: so whatsoever he shall do, shall prosper.

Proverbs 1

7The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

Romans

16For I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth, to the Jew first, and also to the Grecian.

17For by it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.

18For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness, and unrighteousness of men, which withhold the truth in unrighteousness.

19Forasmuch as that, which may be known of God, is manifest in them, for God hath showed it unto them.

20For the invisible things of him, that is, his eternal power and Godhead, are seen by the creation of the world, being considered in his works, to the intent that they should be without excuse:

It is the Lord’s righteousness that causes us to live by faith, knowing he reveals all that is needed to trust in his eternal power and Godhead. We are without excuse and will be judged.  That is why the fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge.

The Wide, Wide World by Susan Warner

“But, still, we will hope and pray alike in that matter; and while we do, and may, with our whole hearts, let us leave ourselves in our Father’s hand. The joy of the knowledge of Christ! The joy the world cannot intermeddle with, the peace it cannot take away! Let us make that our own, Ellie; and, for the rest, put away all anxious care about what we cannot control.”
